The Tower of Americas in San Antonio

The Tower of Americas in San Antonio, Texas has long been a cherished landmark and viable tourist attraction for the city. Even residents of San Antonio enjoy dining at and frequenting this one of a kind attraction. The Tower of Americas was originally built in 1968 as part of the World’s Fair. It was the tallest observation tower in the United States from 1968 until 1996 and is the tallest building in Texas outside of Dallas and Houston. It has become part of the city’s landscape since it was constructed and continues today.

Located in Hemisfair Park on the outskirts of downtown San Antonio, The Tower of Americas has a restaurant as well as a gift shop, observation deck and even a 4-D film ride. When tourists come to the city they flock to see it and go to the top to see all over San Antonio and beyond. While there have been many changes through the years to the Tower and what is inside of it the structure itself is recognized as part of San Antonio the same way the Empire State Building is to New York City.  Residents of San Antonio are proud to have a unique and interesting attraction in their city and are proud that it is part of their unique history.

The Tower of Americas is a landmark for San Antonio because it is one of the many things that make the city what it is. You associate the skyline with the Tower and recognize it is as San Antonio because of that. While there are many other historical places to see and visit in San Antonio none stand as tall (pun intended) or give you the thrilling experience that the Tower of Americas does. That makes it much more than a tourist attraction but an exceptional landmark of the Texas city and America as a whole.
